KEATING burst into life at the 2005 Melbourne International Comedy Festival where it won all available awards including the Barry Award for Most Outstanding Show, The Age Critics' Award and the Golden Gibbo. Following sold-out seasons around Australia, creator Casey Bennetto won a 2005 Green Room Award and a 2006 Helpmann Award, both for Best Original Score.
Bennetto then teamed up with Company B Artistic Director Neil Armfield in 2006 to make his outlandish and biting musical bigger and better than ever. Since then the show has enjoyed amazing sold-out seasons all over Australia including three in Sydney and seven packed out weeks at the 2007 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Casey Bennetto's scathingly hilarious lyrics tear through the reign and tragic fall of the Placido Domingo of Australian politics. Part French farce, part Greek tragedy, and all Australian history, "the musical we had to have" transports you back to a time less politically grey.
