Cabaret is avant-garde, it's political, it's entertaining, it's hilarious and it's sometimes just plain jaw dropping spectacular. It's a playroom of emotions for adults.

As far back as fifteenth century France, people were singing the praises of cabaret in the streets, bars and taverns. The word cabaret is French for "wine cellar" or "small room". By the second half of the 19th Century, cabaret became a testing ground for the avant-garde as well as entertainment for the masses. In the best instances it was both. It was a critically reflective mirror of topical events, morals, politics and culture, walking the tightrope between the stage proper and the variety show. Always a flexible medium, cabaret has shifted with the times, without ever losing its rebellious wit or innovative nature.
