Foundation
Audience development is a priority for the Adelaide Festival Centre and an essential component is enabling young people to engage, be inspired and stimulated by the arts. Adelaide Festival Centre Foundation’s mission is to enrich the lives of generations to come and give young South Australians experiences that last a lifetime.
The Adelaide Festival Centre Foundation launched a youth focused agenda in May 2007 which is proving to be a great success. One of the primary goals is to ensure all young South Australian’s have the opportunity to engage in the arts and the Adelaide Festival Centre on a regular basis.
The Foundation currently raises funds for six projects that are focussed on developing and nurturing young people at the Adelaide Festival Centre, including;
1. Giving children and their families a chance to see a special Foundation funded evening at the theatre each Christmas.
2. Giving children their first taste of creativity and storytelling at free Foundation Kids Corner at Something on Saturday May- September.
3. Supporting the Festival Centre GreenRoom youth membership program.
4. Giving our future arts industry leaders valuable career mentoring in the arts through the Anthony Steel Fellowship.
5. Giving our future arts industry leaders valuable career mentoring in visual arts through the Kym Bonython Fellowship.
6. Supporting the Adelaide International Guitar Festival classical guitar competition.
