Into the FirePaul Grabowsky, Australian Art Orchestra and the
Sruthi Laya Percussion Ensemble with special guest Bharatanatyam dancer
Rajeswari Sainath
A musical journey rich in power, beauty and originality
Audiences throughout India, Europe, Australia and Asia have been swept away by Into the Fire, a new style of music built on the rock solid foundation of the Carnatic tradition with Western interpretations, performed on both South Indian and Western instruments.
Featuring Paul Grabowsky, seven Australian Art Orchestra members and South Indian Mridangam player Guru Kaaraikkudi Mani with three members of the Sruthi Laya percussion ensemble in a most dynamic and breathtaking display of musical virtuosity.
The rhythmic intricacies and improvising practices that reside at the core of both the South Indian Carnatic tradition and the Western jazz tradition are revealed in a powerfully intoxicating blend of music, percussion and dance.
Special guest classical Bharatanatyam dancer, Rajeswari Sainath, joins the musicians on stage for the title composition complementing the shifting moods and rhythmic accents with her unique and extraordinarily expressive movements.
"...an ensemble rich in power, subtlety, tonal colours and solo strength unmatched by any other group in the country." The Australian
