Contemporary dance has a new star

Popular art and culture meet head on in the extraordinary work of Barcelona-born choreographer Rafael Bonachela, acclaimed as "the next big thing" by the UK's Sunday Times Magazine.

A dancer for 14 years with Rambert Dance Company, Bonachela is now Artist in Residence at London's Southbank Centre, and made this new work as guest choreographer for Sydney Dance Company in 2008.

Famed for his collaborations with musicians and designers, Bonachela's work has already been seen by thousands of Australians - in 2005 he choreographed Kylie Minogue's flamboyant Showgirl tour! Moving effortlessly between the mainstream and the avant garde, his commissions include work for George Piper Dancers, English Chamber Orchestra, Danza Contemporanea de Cuba, Tina Turner and Primal Scream.

This brilliant new production brings Bonachela's energetic, unyielding style together with Sydney Dance Company's stunning dancers and the high-profile commercial-world design of Tony Assness and Hugh Taranto.
