2012 Adelaide International Classical Guitar Competition

Attracting competitors from all over the world, the Adelaide International Classical Guitar Competition is the most prestigious guitar competition in the southern hemisphere. Held in conjunction with the Adelaide International Guitar Festival, the competition provides a unique opportunity for emerging artists to gain exposure and experience on an international stage through performing at a world renowned festival, and will be adjudicated by a panel of  established players and teachers from around Australia as well as a number of high profile international artists who will be performing at the Adelaide International Guitar Festival in 2012.

PRIZES
First Prize - AUD$10,000 plus a Jim Redgate Guitar, valued at US$15,000
Second Prize - AUD$4000
Third Prize - AUD$2000

QUALIFYING ROUNDS

Audition Round - (02 Jan – 29 Feb 20120, online application)
Semi Final - (8 Aug 2012, Adelaide Festival Centre, South Australia)
16 Competitors with the highest score from the Audition Round will progress.
Final - (11 Aug 2012, Adelaide Festival Centre, South Australia)
Up to 8 of the highest scoring competitors will be selected to progress
Award Presentation - (Saturday 11 August 2012, Adelaide Festival Centre)

AUDITION ROUND REPERTOIRE

1)    ‘Dervish’ from Stélé  - Phillip Houghton
2)    Sarabande BWV 997 - J.S. Bach
3)    1 Free Choice piece, maximum length 6 minutes

SEMI FINAL ROUND REPERTOIRE

1)    1st Movement - Allegretto - from Sonatina in A by Federico Moreno Torroba
2)    1 Free Choice Piece, maximum length 6 minutes

FINAL ROUND REPERTOIRE

15 minutes (maximum) Free Choice Pieces
•    At least one piece composed pre 1850
•    At least one piece composed post 1850

Application Fee: AUD $187.00 in GST
