Adelaide Festival Centre's trans:mission program presents Angelique Kidjo Grammy Award Winner
An unforgettable performer
Kidjo's distinctive striking voice, incredible stage presence and fluency in multiple languages has won the respect of her peers and expanded her following around the world.
The much-celebrated singer, composer and performer blends the West African traditions of her childhood in Benin with elements of American R&B, funk and jazz, as well as influences from Europe and Latin America.
After five Grammy nominations her most recent release, Djin Djin, earned Kidjo her first Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album. Kidjo has long collaborated with musicians from many cultures and this Grammywinning album includes guests Peter Gabriel, Josh Groban, Alicia Keys, Branford Marsalis, Carlos Santana, Ziggy Marley and Joss Stone.
Over the course of her amazing career Angelique Kidjo has spread her rhythmic Afro-funk fusion to the four corners of the globe. Performing repertoire from Djin Djin, this one night only performance promises to be unforgettable.
Her spirit is irrepressible, and she brings life to everything she touches.
