He’s been lauded as one of the world’s greatest guitarists and he is fast evolving into a full-blown truly charismatic and mesmerising blues-rock star, as well as a singer-songwriter of stylistic depth and emotional resonance. He is 33 year old New Yorker Joe Bonamassa, and he’s heading back to Australia for his 2nd visit in May 2011.

"Just saw Joe Bonamassa on Jools Holland again. He's definitely my new favorite guitarist."
- SLASH, via twitter Aug 2010

Born to parents who ran a guitar shop, Bonamassa is a 4th generation musician who has played guitar almost since his hands could grasp one.  At the age of 10, he caught the ear of BB King, who declared “This kid's potential is unbelievable. He hasn't even begun to scratch the surface. He's one of a kind.”  By age 12, Bonamassa was opening shows for King, and went on to tour with such luminaries as Buddy Guy, Foreigner, Robert Cray, Stephen Stills, Joe Cocker and Gregg Allman.

King was correct; Bonamassa hadn’t yet even scratched the surface.  21 years later, Joe Bonamassa is selling out shows at London’s Royal Albert Hall (where he was joined for an impromptu song by Eric Clapton), recording with BB King (on the recent Black Rock album), taking home Breakthrough Artist of The Year and Best Blues Guitarist awards, regularly topping Billboard charts and earning ever-more critical acclaim with each new release and seemingly every live show.
