Adelaide Festival Centre's Adelaide International Guitar Festival presents
MUSICA LATINA - MANUEL BARRUECO & YAMANDU COSTA
Fiery and passionate virtuoso guitar
A rare double bill featuring two giants of the classical guitar world.
Drawing on Latin influences, Musica Latina references the ‘new world’ in the guitar’s evolution after The Americas were discovered and explores the departure from European traditions.
Grammy nominated Manuel Barrueco is internationally recognised as one of the most important guitarists of our time. Known as a superb instrumentalist and a superior and elegant musician, Manuel Barrueco performs exclusively at the Adelaide International Guitar Festival on his first visit to Australia.
At 29, Yamandú Costa is already considered one of the greatest geniuses of Brazilian music. A virtuosic guitar player, composer and arranger, Yamandú’s impressive and explosive live performance highlights a deep intimacy with the guitar switching between samba, choro and tango with blistering dexterity.
“…simply and consistently – awesome.” Los Angeles Times
