His voice traverses the octaves with ease and sends tingles shooting down the spine. In Make Me A King, Paul Capsis explores the rich legacy of his favourite 20th-century torch songs. This intimate show is Paul’s personal homage to his musical heroes and influences. Inspired by his latest recording, Make Me A King, he brings his own special twist to a range of timeless rock, soul, jazz and blues classics.
Accompanied by an extraordinary jazz trio led by Alister Spence, this emotive repertoire includes songs by REM, Lou Reed, Leonard Cohen, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Dinah Washington and a few intriguing surprises.
Undoubtedly one of Australia’s most individual and versatile performers, Paul defies convention and inspires wonderment with a talent that allows him to cross effortlessly between theatre, film, recording, live concerts and cabaret.
“…the sort of electric live performer who produces moments that will blow you away." The Age.
