Oud virtuoso Joseph Tawadros' original contemporary compositions are based on the Egyptian Maqam system (a melodic modal system), which features odd time signatures, broken bars, catchy ostinato patterns and intensely technical improvisations. The trio is comprised of brothers Joseph Tawadros on oud, James Tawadros on req? (Egyptian tamborine), and Ben Rodgers on bass.
