Russian-born Abstract Expressionist painter Mark Rothko is one of the most celebrated artists of his generation.
In 1958, he is paid an astronomical amount to paint a series of murals for the restaurant in New York's prestigious new Seagram Building. Initially highly flattered, he is challenged by his young assistant, Ken, and begins to question his motives in accepting the commission.
RED explores Rothko's struggle to reconcile his celebrity with artistic integrity.
Oscar nominee John Logan's new play won SIX Tony Awards in 2010, including BEST PLAY. Independent Theatre's Space production is its Australian Premiere.
Not suitable for children under 15 years.
