ARTISTS-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM
Three exhibitions that explore the diversity of South Australian Indigenous art.
26 October – 11 December 2011
Festival Theatre Foyer

Tjungu Palya (selected works)
Since its incorporation in 2006, Tjungu Palya has grown to be a dynamic and innovative community art  centre. Located about 100kms south of Uluru, Nyapari is set at the base of the majestic Mann Ranges in  the heart of country traditionally owned by the Pitjantjatjara people.

Indulkana – Ooodnadatta Coming Together Workshops
In 2011 a series of screen printing workshops were held in the communities of Indulkana and Oodnadatta,  led by Melbourne based artist Sue Anderson. Although the communities of Indulkana and Oodnadatta lie some 300kms apart on either side of the Stuart Highway in the Far North of South Australia, they have experienced a vastly different history since white settlement. The prints from these workshops reflect the coming together of a people with a shared family and cultural heritage.

The Spirit of Lake Eyre – Arrabanna Country
With the flooding of Lake Eyre for the first time in recent years, a dispute arose when sailing access to Lake Eyre was denied due to the cultural and spiritual significance of the area to the Arrabanna people.  Arrabanna photographer, Colleen Raven Strangways, set out to capture the essence of the Spirit of Lake Eyre. Colleen aims to express the importance of those stories about her people today.

OUR MOB and ABC OPEN

ABC Open is a new and exciting way for people in regional Australia to connect and share their stories through the ABC. As part of Our Mob ABC OPEN will be showcasing DreamBox an Indigenous specific project launched by ABC Open to coincide with NAIDOC week this year.  During NAIDOC week, ABC Open producers attended over 40 NAIDOC events around the county, hosting DreamBox photobooths and inviting Indigenous Australians to share their dreams online.  There are over 1,100 dreams on our website and a significant number of these were contributed from South Australia.
