Guitarissimo

Since its launch in 2006, the Guitarissimo series has become the most important concert series for emerging guitar talent in South Australia. Conceived and directed by internationally renowned German guitarist, Oliver Fartach-Naini, Guitarissimo features varied programmes showcasing the talents of Elder Conservatorium musicians with repertoire that includes a mixture of solo and chamber music, popular tunes and surprise gems.

Previous seasons have included multiple premieres of solo and ensemble works, and involved distinguished guest artists including acclaimed Perth guitarist Dr. Jonathan Paget and renowned Melbournian pianist Benjamin Martin.

In keeping with Guitarissimo's vision, the programme for the 2010 Adelaide International Guitar Festival will be diverse and vibrant. Award winning Masters student Jody Fisher, who has recently returned from festivals and concerto performances in Europe and Australia, will be performing solo. Trio Sonoro, consisting of senior Elder Conservatorium students and the Elder Guitar Ensemble will present an array of chamber music including some of their own compositions.

"Having regular performances is vitally important for young players. Classical guitarists, in general, have far fewer concert opportunities than other instrumentalists. I created Guitarissimo to give Adelaide's talent a chance to present themselves in a professional context, not only to develop their playing, but also their knowledge and understanding of the industry as a whole." - Oliver Fartach-Naini, Founder and Director, Guitarissimo.
