Biography

Three times winner of the ‘South Australian Songwriter of the Year’ and Bank’s Music ‘Best New Music’ Award winner, Cal Williams Jr recently released his debut UK album Driving as a Form of Prayer to exceptional reviews. The Cal Williams Jr Band is one of Adelaide’s most sought after musical acts, playing regularly at The Grace Emily, The Exeter, Fad Bar, The Austral and The Gov. They were the opening performance at the Rock the Vote official launch concert and have played live-to-air on Radio Adelaide’s Local Noise and the Three D Radio Blues Show. Cal has performed at numerous festivals, including the Leeds In-The-City Festival, the Famous Spiegeltent at the Edinburgh Festival Fring and the St. Ives September Fringe, and with outstanding artists including Billy Bragg, KT Tunstall and Steve Phillips and the Rough Diamonds. Cal has also performed live-to-air on BBC Raw Talent, BBC Radio Cleveland, BBC Radio York, Fresh Air FM and BBC Radio Lancashire. Cal’s songs feature as the soundtrack for the East Coast surf film 900 miles and also for the award-winning short film Wilderness. "A brilliant exhibition of slide guitar.
