Biography
Adelaide born Graham “Buzz” Bidstrup began his involvement with the Australian music industry as a 14 year old drummer in the now legendary Fahrenheit 451. From 1976 to ’81 he was a member of The Angels where he played drums on the band’s first four albums and toured Australia, Europe and the USA and co wrote and co produced the chart topping hit No Secrets.
In 1981 he left The Angels and was in demand as a session player, playing drums, and percussion and /or keyboards and guitar on many hit records including Mondo Rock’s Chemistry, Australian Crawl’s Reckless, Richard Clapton’s’ Solidarity, Cold Chisel’s 20th Century and Jimmy Barnes’ No second prize. He also produced and/or engineered many tracks for young bands including The Hoodoo Gurus, INXS, The Riptides and The Numbers and in 1982 co-founded Aussie rock “supergroup” The Party Boys.
Around this time he also began writing, recording and producing film music with composer Cameron Allan and some of the films he worked on included Heatwave, Hoodwink, Midnight Spares and Darkroom. Buzz was a music consultant and actors coach as well as a musician on Starstruck and other film and TV work included associate music producer for the ABC TV series Sweet and Sour and composer, music producer and musician for the award winning Greetings from Wollongong and Tenderhooks.
To date Buzz has produced over 50 albums, some of his most successful being the debut releases from Nathan Cavaleri, Diana Anaid and GANGgajang. He also managed these artists, and in 1999 became manager for Australian Indigenous entertainer Jimmy Little. Buzz has guided Jimmys’ career ever since including the co production of his ABC album “Down the Road” and organising and accompanying Jimmy on tours to USA, Europe and Singapore to appear at WOMAD concerts.
Buzz has now ventured into event management with the JLF Rock the Foundation concerts and the Bon Scott Celebration concerts held in Perth in 2007/8.
