Two-time Grammy nominee Tommy Emmanuel is one of Australia’s most respected musicians with a professional career spanning five decades. His unique style is akin to playing guitar the way a pianist plays piano, using all ten fingers. Rather than using a band for melody, rhythm, bass and drum parts, Tommy plays all that – and more – on one guitar. Guitar legend Chet Atkins was one of the first to inspire young Emmanuel to try this “fingerpicker” style. Decades later, Atkins himself became one of Emmanuel’s biggest fans. Guitar players of all levels come to his shows to witness the magic hands of the “Guitar Wizard of Oz”, but his appeal goes far beyond musicians. Tommy Emmanuel’s message is pure love for the guitar and the music and his delight in sharing it with the world, one audience at a time. Special guest, Frank vignola is widely regarded as a monster player and composer, and has played with everyone from Les Paul and Madonna through to Donald Fagen and the Boston Pops. This will be Frank’s first visit to Australia. “The best (guitar player) I’ve ever seen“ - Eric Clapton “…one of the greatest players on the planet!” - Chet Atkins Helpful links Add to 2012 Season Subscribtion View the full 2012 Season

Australia, it's back... by overwhelmingly popular demand! Happy Days Records by special arrangement with its president 'Big Al Delvecchio' brings this unique concept to the stage with new stars and memories from the era that reigns supreme in Rock N Roll history. Big Al - world famous drive-in owner of Al's Diner - has cooked up a rock and roll feast large enough to whet any appetite, assembling the greatest band ever to take you back to a decade that created music legends and influenced a formidable culture, performing a catalogue where their songs are timeless, their hits are endless, and their flair is never forgotten. Rock like never before and take the journey back to the Class of 59!!! Rock N Roll's immortal journalist Ritchie Yorke described 2011's Class of 59 tour as "an outstanding and exciting new original show that tells the story of when rock 'n' roll music was a happy and exuberant experience. With a multi-talented cast, the show delivers a stack of red hot tracks in an appropriate context. Rock 'n' Roll comes alive again in this terrific show worthy of an international audience." Dance with us back to an era when rock and roll influenced and created a social movement for the teenagers of its day... an era where black horned rimmed glasses became a trend... an era where petrol was so cheap that it fuelled not only the hot rods on the roads but fired up a musical movement that would only be lived for a short while but would last in the hearts and souls of billions for eternity. It is this era that will be recreated on stage... Fans of the show will be able to take their concert experience home with them with the purchase of the official Class of 59 tour CD featuring a compilation of the hits from the golden era performed on the tour and will be available only on this tour.
Graeme Murphy is famous for bringing new life into classic ballets, and now he tackles the greatest love story ever told: Romeo & Juliet. Traversing time and place, Murphy’s ballet follows “a feisty girl and a feisty boy who are willing to take a stand for their love”. Young passion smoulders at its core, but Murphy also tackles the consequence of greed and war, and asks what happens to humanity when love dies. This grand story is also grandly designed, with costumes by Australian fashion luminary Akira Isogawa and some of The Australian Ballet’s most ambitious sets to date. The result is a masterpiece from first blush to final devastation.
On Sale 07 November 2011 By Tennessee Williams Set in St. Louis in the 1930’s, The Glass Menagerie is a “memory play” about the Wingfield family: Tom, who is torn between his obligation to his family and his desire to break away from the suffocating embrace of his mother Amanda and his shy and crippled sister Laura, whose memory he will never escape. Abandoned by her husband, Amanda Wingfield comforts herself with recollections of her earlier, more gracious life in the American Deep South, when she was pursued by ‘gentlemen callers’. Now she fights to provide a better life for her grown children, while they struggle for a future that seems unlikely ever to fulfill their mother’s hopes and dreams. But a change in fortune suddenly seems possible with the arrival of a handsome and mysterious young visitor who arrives without warning. <em>The Glass Menagerie, Tennessee William's evocation of loneliness and lost love, is one of his most powerful and moving plays; an unforgettable American classic.
On Sale 07 November 2011 By Caryl Churchill Set in Margaret Thatcher’s England in the early 1980s, where power dressing and giant shoulder pads were the all the fashion, Caryl Churchill’s stark and unflinching portrayal of the sacrifices women make to get to the top is still stingingly relevant. Marlene is an ambitious career woman who has just been appointed head of the Top Girls Employment Agency. This aesthetically daring, politically provocative play tells the story of the firm and Marlene’s rise to power. An insightful commentary on bourgeois feminism, this bold and ingenious work offers one of theatre's most honest portraits of what it means to be a woman in the modern world. Top Girls examines the complex challenges working women face in the contemporary business world and society at large. We celebrate Marlene’s success, yet as she climbs the corporate ladder and breaks through the glass ceiling, she leaves her sisters behind. In doing so, the play asks, can we applaud her values? The shoulder-pads may have gone on the rubbish heap, but Churchill’s masterpiece continues to resonate. Director: Catherine Fitzgerald Designer: Mary Moore Cast includes: Eileen Darley, Antje Guenther, Ulli Birvé, Sally Hildyard, Carissa Lee, Ksenja Logos, Lia Reutens Composer: Catherine Oates Access Performance: Tuesday 28 Aug 6.30pm Vision Impaired / Audio Described (with pre-show discussion from 5.30pm) Saturday 1 Sep 2.00pm Vision Impaired / Audio Described Wednesday 5 Sep 11.00am Captioned

On Sale 07 November 2011 By Sarah Kane. It’s a rare event when theatre makes the headlines but Blasted, Sarah Kane’s first play, did just that. Hugely controversial when it premiered at London’s Royal Court Theatre in 1995, it was hailed as a landmark of modern theatre, an astonishingly visceral play of harrowing power that achieved notoriety very quickly by being lambasted in the Daily Mail as “a disgusting feast of filth”. It starts in a Leeds hotel room, to which sickly, gin-soaked local news journalist Ian takes his young lover, the naïve, epileptic Cate for the night. He’s racist, homophobic, and armed. They circle each other in a battle of wills when suddenly an armed soldier enters the room and ignites an explosive set of events that lead to scenes of rape, torture and cannibalism. Kane takes audiences through a nightmarish journey that serves as a vicious reminder that violence outside will always find a way in. Blasted is not for the faint-hearted but it is for the reflective mind.
On Sale 07 November 2011 By Simon Stephens It’s July 2005 and London feels like the centre of the world. Big events are happening and everyone is talking about them – Live 8, G8, the triumph of the 2012 Olympics bid for London. In schools, offices, streets, shops, parks and homes – the air is electric with promise and possibility. You can feel the sense of anticipation. In less than an hour in Central London, everything will change … It’s a lonely trek towards oblivion on the London Underground made by a young man with ice in his heart and a pack of explosives in his rucksack. This stark and shattering play follows seven different characters who share little besides their loneliness, over the first seven days of July from Live 8 through the 2012 Olympics announcement and the ensuing terror attacks in the heart of London. A state-of-the-nation play in the fullest sense, Pornography captures Britain as it crashes from the euphoria and promise of the 2012 Olympics announcement into the devastation of the 7/7 terrorist attacks. Simon Stephens is one of Britain’s most brilliant new playwrights. One city, one day, seven stories. (And of course it couldn’t happen here…) Director: Daniel Clarke Composer: Jason Sweeney Lighting Designer: Mark Pennington Designer: Wendy Todd Cast: Matthew Crook, Carmel Johnson, Ansuya Nathan

By Sarah Ruhl If you long for a time when an ankle was breathtaking, when a well-turned calf or the touch of a hand across a teapot caused palpitations, then this 19th century costume drama is the play for you. If you’ve confined your knowledge of the Victorians to that century’s output in the genre of the novel, you’ll be forgiven for thinking that no one ever had sex, no one went to the bathroom and certainly, no one used a vibrator. Dr Givings is an inventor who is obsessed with the new miracle of electricity. His wife, a frustrated free spirit, craves romantic love, sensuality, and excitement with her buttoned-up husband, who has more passion for science than for, well, passion. She longs to connect with him - but not electrically. A bystander in her husband's world, the vagaries of the medical field have never held much allure for her, until now. Lonely and struggling with new motherhood, Mrs Givings seeks the companionship of her husband's patients and begins to discover the truth of what goes on in the next room. A funny, touching and stimulating new comedy about love, longing, science and invention, In The Next Room or the Vibrator Play was nominated for both the Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize, and was a resounding hit when it opened on Broadway in 2009, consolidating Sarah Ruhl’s reputation as one of America’s most imaginative and effervescent contemporary playwrights. Director: Catherine Fitzgerald Designer: Ailsa Paterson Lighting Designer: David Gadsden Composer: Catherine Oates Cast Includes: Lizzy Falkland, Katherine Fyffe, Cameron Goodall, Pamela Jikiemi, Amber McMahon, Renato Musolino and Brendan Rock Access Performance: Tuesday 13 Nov 6.30pm Vision Impaired / Audio Described (with pre-show discussion from 5.30pm) Saturday 17 Nov 2.00pm Vision Impaired / Audio Described Wednesday 21 Nov 11.00am Captioned

Learn more about his life, legacy, inspiration and international impact Albert Namatjira’s life story provides a valuable insight, not only into Australia’s history, but into our modern-day relations with Indigenous people.
Australian Premiere Exquisite passion, blazing artistry, irrepressible spirit The 2012 Adelaide International Guitar Festival celebrates the spirit – el Duende – that arises from flamenco’s unique fusion of dance, voice, percussion and guitar. Florian Remus believes his hands are but tools; it is his heart that plays the guitar. Known for authentic interpretations and soulful compositions, Florian gathers some of the stars of Adelaide’s nationally renowned flamenco scene for a performance of dazzling intensity. American maestro Jason McGuire, el Rubio, has ignited the international flamenco community with astonishing virtuosity and profound understanding of the Gitano spirit. Together with Emmy award-winning choreographer and dancer Yaelisa, he brings luminaries of their San Francisco-based company Caminos Flamencos to Australia for the first time. “…playfulness…tour-de-force soleas…gutsy dancing.” - voice Of Dance Helpful links Add to 2012 Season Subscribtion View the full 2012 Season

By Don Reid Feisty and vulnerable, these biddies are everything – except old! Five ordinarily marvellous women find themselves back in their school classroom plying their needles in a good old-fashioned session of "stitch and bitch". Their confessions are frank, their rivalries intense and their jokes outrageous. They discover a common frustration with the limitations of being female and mature in a world still largely defined by men. Accidentally locked in the classroom with nothing but ingenuity, Adora Cream Wafers and a bucket to get them through the crisis, unknown reserves come to the fore. Released from their own constraints, they rediscover their capacity to love, forgive – and take control. If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em! Men see their wives, adult children see their mothers, grandchildren see Nana, and the mature Australian woman sees herself, as some of our most beloved actresses bring this delightful new comedy to life and laughter on the stage. You’ll laugh till you cry. Starring Maggie Blinco, Annie Byron, Vivienne Garrett, Julie Hudspeth, Donna Lee and Linden Wilkinson “...a heart-warming comedy....” - Sydney Morning Herald Helpful links Add to 2012 Season Subscribtion View the full 2012 Season

TERRAIN the wonder of Lake Eyre Adelaide Festival Centre and Bangarra Dance Theatre present a fusion of contemporary dance and storytelling commissioned by artistic director Stephen Page. Described as a hymn to country, TERRAIN transports us to Lake Eyre, the place of Australia's inland sea and one of the few untouched natural waterways in the world. Bangarra artists explore the innate connection of Indigenous people to country and landscape as second skin. Award-winning Aboriginal artists: choreographer Frances Rings, composer David Page and set designer Jacob Nash create a powerful and evocative production inspired by the timeless beauty of Lake Eyre. Beyond the ancient vastness we travel through drought and deluge. We wonder at the ephemeral transformation of place. The place where nature delivers in abundance, promises all, but guarantees nothing. Helpful links Add to 2012 Season Subscribtion View the full 2012 Season

Direct from New York The fabulous, award winning TROCKS make their triumphant return to Australia! Founded in 1974 in New York by a group of dancers aspiring to present a playful, entertaining view of classical ballet in parody form, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo first performed in the late-late shows in Off-Off Broadway lofts and are now treasured all around the world. This company of professional male dancers presents an inspired blend of their loving knowledge of classical ballet, a brilliant comic approach, and the astounding fact that men can, indeed, dance en pointe without falling flat on their faces! Dancing a fine line between high art and high camp and always with a wicked sense of fun and mastery of technique, these darlings of the ballet world will appeal to dance aficionados and complete novices alike. “The funniest night you’ll ever have at the ballet.” - Sunday Times, UK Helpful links Add to 2012 Season Subscribtion View the full 2012 Season

This is the story of a man who has something to say, but can't quite get it out. Legendary Canadian performer Jamie Adkins (Cirque du Soleil soloist, and Montréal's Cirque Éloize) is mustering the courage to face what he fears most: speaking in public. To overcome his fear he's going to need to get creative! Right side up and upside down, Jamie finds the magic hidden in just about anything. Balancing precariously on towering ladders, wrangling an animated chair and juggling anything he can find are all part of his unusual solution. With astonishing acrobatic skills, sidesplitting wit and an imaginative story about never giving up, this brilliant sequence of choreographed mayhem is an international hit that will have you captivated and a little speechless yourself. "Infinitesimal acts of imperceptible genius." The New York Times Created and performed by Jamie Adkins.

Experience the beauty of twenty-four of the world's youngest voices in one of the world's oldest musical traditions. The Vienna Boys Choir returns to Australia for a very special national tour, including the premiere of a new work by composer Elena Kats-Chernin. For more than 500 years the Vienna Boys Choir (or Wiener Sängerknaben) has been an enduring symbol of Europe, having worked with composers such as Fux, Salieri, Haydn and Bruckner and conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Leonard Bernstein, Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Sir George Solti. The choir is one of the world's most active musical ensembles and performs over 300 concerts a year. While providing the music for the Sunday Mass in Vienna's Imperial Chapel - which they have done since 1498! - the choir also tours internationally, performing each year in some of the world's finest concert halls. For the first time, the choir will premiere a specially commissioned work by an Australian composer, with Elena Kats-Chernin's evocative new vocal setting of the much-loved Australian poem, My Country by Dorothea Mackellar. The tour program also includes an inspiring selection of the choir's own repertoire, including pieces from Renaissance to Modern and of course the beautiful Viennese favourites of Johann and Josef Strauss.
La Bohême is without doubt one of the world's most celebrated and emotionally powerful operatic love stories. The tumultuous story of young love, friendship and grief is even more compelling when surrounded by Puccini's glorious and evocative music. The opera draws from a collection of true-life sketches describing life among original bohemians, the poor artists of Paris's Latin Quarter. Hungry but cheerful, the poet Rodolfo shares a roof top garret with the painter Marcello, the musician Schaunard and philosopher Colline. The action starts on a moonlit Christmas Eve when the frail but lovely seemstress Mimi comes to Rodolfo's door for help and the two instantly fall passionately in love. Meanwhile Marcello carries on his turbulent affair with the flirtatious Musetta. Rodolfo later becomes rather jealous of Mimi, and the two regretfully part, until Musetta reveals that Mimi is dying of consumption. So the lovers are again united, only to be separated forever by Mimi's death. Please note: this performance will be sung in Italian with English Surtitles.

Beethoven's magnificent only opera takes place in Spain when governed by a military regime where Florestan, a freedom fighter, has been imprisoned in a detainment camp for political prisoners by his enemy Don Pizarro who plans to starve him to death while rumours circulate that he is already dead. On hearing these frightening rumours and desperate to save Florestan, his wife Leonore, disguised as a man and named Fidelio succeeds in getting a job working for the jailer Rocco as a means of finding a way to free him. Embarrassingly Rocco's daughter Marzelline is hoping to marry Fidelio spurning her former sweetheart, Jacquino. When Don Pizarro hears of the impending visit to the prison of his superior, Don Fernando, he decides to murder Florestan, only to discover that Fidelio is shielding the prisoner so the frustrated and furious Pizarro attempts to kill them both. However, Leonore suddenly draws a pistol and reveals herself as Florestan's wife. About to fire the pistol to kill Pizarro a trumpet fanfare is heard announcing the arrival of Don Fernando, so the panic stricken Pizarro immediately leaves Florestan's cell. Consequently Florestan and Leonore feel they have been saved and are ecstatic. Rocco informs Don Fernando of Don Pizarro's horrific misdeeds who instructs all prisoners held unjustly to be released to family and friends, including Leonore who removes the chains from Florestan. Marzelline consents to marry Jacquino as Pizarro is led away to imprisonment. The opera ends with the sensational closing chorus praising married love and the triumph of goodwill and humanity. Please note: this performance will be sung in German with English surtitles.

Eurydice, bored stupid with her marriage to the lowly music professor Orpheus, is having a love affair with Pluto, the God of the Underworld, who is disguised as a local shepherd and has lured her into a cornfield where she is bitten by a snake and falls dying in his arms. He then exposes himself, and brings her back to life so she can leave a message for Orpheus, and then whisks her away to Hades, his underworld realm. Not being happy with his marriage, Orpheus is rather pleased with this development but is persuaded by the allegorical character Pubic Opinion to try and rescue her, so they depart for Mount Olympus to seek help from Jupiter, King of the Gods. Following orders from Jupiter, the god Mercury arrives with news regarding the scandalous disappearance of Eurydice on Earth and the fact that Orpheus is on the way to ask Jupiter to return his wife to him. Pluto has of course lied to Jupiter about the location of Eurydice who is being kept in his boudoir in Hades and where she is being guarded and entertained by John Styx, the former King of Beotia. On arrival at Pluto's boudoir in Hades, Orpheus, Jupiter and the other Gods realise that Eurydice is nowhere to be found. However, with the intervention of the playful God of love Cupid he is able to access her face to face, in the form of a fly, as he has decided he would rather like the lady for himself. She loves the fly so he turns back into himself and invites her to join him at a party on Mount Olympus. Eurydice arrives disguised as a bacchante, a follower of Bacchus the God of Wine, but is recognized by Pluto who prevents Jupiter making off with her. In response Jupiter again accuses Pluto of abducting her and on the arrival of Orpheus and Public Opinion he tells Orpheus he can walk his wife back to Earth, but only if he does not look back at her as they go, something he fails to achieve after being forced into turning around by Jupiter. He then announces that Eurydice is to be turned into a real Bacchante with everyone, excluding Pluto and Public Opinion, delighted and resulting in this wonderful Offenbach operetta reaching its climax and conclusion with the Can-Can being danced by all the gods and goddesses. Please note: this performance will be sung in English with English surtitles.

In 1982, Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn penned the first episodes of Yes Minister for the BBC. It was an instant hit. Their characters and situations revealed, to a largely unsuspecting public, the deliciously awkward marriage between civil servants and politicians. Twenty-five years later these brilliant wordsmiths have done it again and this time it's a hit play! It's 2011. A lot has happened since the Rt Hon. Jim Hacker MP last walked the corridors of Whitehall. There's the GFC, rising oil prices, minority governments, illegal immigrants and global warming. If that's not enough to contend with, the 24 hour news cycle, constant bleating of mobile phones, endless emails and a new generation of spin doctors. Starring Philip Quast (Mary Poppins) as the cynical Cabinet Secretary, Sir Humphrey Appleby, alongside familiar Australian TV star Mark Owen-Taylor (All Saints, A Country Practice) playing the embattled Prime Minister Jim Hacker, and John Lloyd-Fillingham (UK's National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company) as the hapless assistant, Bernard Woolley and Caroline Craig (Blue Heelers, Underbelly) as Hacker's policy advisor. SUITABLE: A comedy with Adult themes - not recommended for children under 14 years of age. CONCESSIONS: For seniors, pensioners and carers. The concession discount is only available for Thursday and Saturday matinees plus Wednesday-Thursday evenings. GROUPS OF 10+ SAVE ON 'A RESERVE' SEATS! Groups of 10 can book online.
Heston Blumenthal Live on Stage! This enthralling evening will focus on Heston's unique philosophy and approach to cooking, exploring taste and flavour, and his passion for the multi-sensory experience of eating and drinking. With special guests, The chef of the three Michelin starred Fat Duck Restaurant in the UK and star of Heston’s Feasts and the Mission Impossible TV series will conduct live scientific experiments and cook recipes from his latest book 'Heston Blumenthal at Home'. Heston will open people's minds to new paradigms and new ways to approach cooking. Heston will take us on a journey from humble beginnings to the creation of iconic dishes such as 'The Sound of the Sea' with edible sand, logic defying 'Hot and Iced Tea', his famous 'Snail Porridge' and the epic 'Mock Turtle Soup' that takes three days to make. Get the inside story on Heston's incredibly moist Christmas puddings with a candied Valencia orange inside which were so popular they sold out in the UK's Waitrose supermarkets in moments with bidding wars on ebay. As it cooks, the essential oils from the orange peel infuse the pudding from the inside out. Now Heston has created a minced pie that promises to make the house smell like a Christmas tree. Join Heston on a journey searching the archives at Hampton Court for historic British recipes which inspired the creation of new dishes for Dinner by Heston Blumenthal in Knightsbridge, which has just been be awarded its first Michelin star after only nine months in operation. There is only one Heston and there is only one night - book now! Please note: no concessions apply for this event. www.hestonlive.com.au

Charting a dark and whimsical path through a ruined, musical landscape of disfigured pop and peculiar period treasures, he mischievously proves that misfits have more fun. A celebrated Australian cabaret performer based in New York, Smith sings in German, French and English, reinterpreting works by Weimar-era composers, as well as modern-day artists including Friedrich Hollaender, Björk, the Supremes, Kylie Minogue, Kurt Weill, and a myriad of glittering others. Accompanied by Amanda Hodder Directed by Christian Coulson "smith is the real thing... a cabaret practitioner who understands his craft and uses every nuance, gesture and lascivious lyric to keep the crowd involved and on the edge of their comfort zones."
Adelaide Cabaret Festival 2012 Acclaimed UK comedian, actor, writer, TV presenter, radio host and all-round Renaissance man Lenny Henry returns to his roots with a funky, funny and personal one man show, Cradle to Rave, about the thing he loves most: music. Cradle to Rave is Henry’s most personal show yet, offering a hilarious and touching insight into a man to whom music matters a little too much. From growing up thinking Elvis was a relative, as there were so many pictures of him in the house, to missing a cue during his theatrical debut as Othello because he was listening to hip hop, Cradle to Rave sets Henry’s family, first loves and fame against a musical backdrop – a comic cabaret voyage through his life told via its eclectic soundtrack. Directed by Richard Wilson, Cradle to Rave is Henry’s musical journey from fan boy to the greatest singer the UK never had.
From the producers of the smash hit concert tour "The Class of '59" and "Buddy: The Concert", comes "THE CLASS OF '69"! During the early years of Australian Rock & Roll, the scene was almost entirely male-dominated. As the beat softened and the frantic momentum diminished during the early '60s, the first female solo singers began to emerge. From the original class of '69, Patricia 'Little Pattie' Amphlett introduces the humbling beginnings of Australian soul music performing her string of hits. The second set brings together four of the world's most recognizable voices - Diana Ross, Lesley gore, Petula Clark and Dusty Springfield performed by Australian songstresses Tyla Bertolly, Naomi Price, Bec Laughton and more for a tribute to their catalogue of hits that established the 1960s musical landscape.

Adelaide Cabaret Festival 2012 One of Australia's most highly regarded performers The enduring charisma of Uncle Jack is simply sublime. An Aboriginal elder who pioneered Koorie theatre in the early 1970s, Uncle Jack founded the first Aboriginal theatre company in Australia, Nindethana. Jack is no longer caught in the cycle of addiction, crime and doing time. Backed by a three piece band, Jack performs songs from his widely acclaimed theatre show Jack Charles V The Crown. An engaging evening of songs from Jack's 1940s childhood through to a blues version of Oodgeroo Noonuccal's poem Son of Mine. Presented in association with Ilbijerri Theatre Company.
John Watson Management, The Harbour Agency, & Street Press Australia Presents MISSY HIGGINS The Ol' Razzle Dazzle Tour with special guest BUTTERFLY BOUCHER In her first new song in five years, ‘Unashamed Desire’, Missy Higgins sings defiantly that "I've got nothing to hide". It's a bold clarion call for where she's at these days. But until recently the acclaimed singer/songwriter was still keeping one thing secret ..."I quit". After selling over a million albums and touring the world performing much loved songs like ‘Scar’, ‘Steer’ and ‘The Special Two’, Missy privately decided to turn her back on music. She did it without farewell tours or media releases. Instead she just told those closest to her that she was walking away from music and she got on with a new life. University. A share house. Some volunteer work. No photos in the papers, no raves on the blogs. This extraordinary decision wasn't made on a whim. In 2007 Missy released her sophomore album ‘On A Clear Night’ in Australia to critical raves and more ARIA Awards. The follow up to her freakishly popular debut ‘The Sound Of White’, her second album actually became the highest selling Australian release for that year and in 2008 Missy relocated to the U.S. to support its release there. Naturally that meant lots and lots of touring. After more than a year ‘Where I Stood’ was inches from being certified gold in the U.S. and Missy was selling out large theatres, but the grind was taking its toll. "I'd had more success than I'd ever dreamt of and somehow it didn't bring the happiness I thought it would,” Higgins explains. "I guess I had a bit of an existential crisis - I thought, how do I become happy? If this doesn’t give me fulfilment, what will? And when you let go of something you’ve always attached to as your identity, what do you do? I’d always been the singer or the musician or the songwriter. And when I quit music, it was terrifying. Who am I without it? It was scary but it was also important to find out.” The full story of that journey will finally be told when Missy's hugely anticipated third album ‘The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle’ is finally released in June.
