Applications Open For Inaugural Wyatt On Stage Program Scholarship

Posted by Adelaide Festival Centre on Wednesday 26 June 2019

Young South Australians experiencing financial and geographical disadvantage are set to benefit from a new scholarship offered by the Adelaide Festival Centre Trust in collaboration with The Wyatt Trust.

The inaugural recipient of the 2019 Wyatt On Stage Program Scholarship will be invited to attend a five-day musical theatre intensive from July 8 to 12 as part of Adelaide Festival Centre’s On Stage Program.

Financial assistance of up to $1400 will be provided to help cover travel, accommodation and registration costs for the course.

The On Stage 2019 July Musical Theatre 5 Day Intensive will include exclusive access to dress rehearsals for the upcoming production of West Side Story before it rolls out its season at the Festival Theatre in November.

Adelaide Festival Centre Programming Executive Kellie Nicol said: “Adelaide Festival Centre’s On Stage Program is all about developing young people’s confidence, communication and leadership skills in a fun and friendly environment. Every school holiday break we bring together the best dance, theatre and vocal instructors to teach participants in all areas of the performing arts. It’s a fantastic program and we’re excited to be making it more accessible to young South Australians experiencing disadvantage by offering this inaugural Wyatt On Stage Program Scholarship.”

Chief Executive of The Wyatt Trust Paul Madden said: “Wyatt provides funding through a range of grants partnerships to ensure South Australians experiencing hardship can access opportunities to participate in the community. We’re aware that young South Australians living in rural and regional areas experience additional barriers to exploring their interests and developing their talents and capabilities – and so we’re delighted to be able to partner with the Adelaide Festival Centre in this way.”

Applications close on Thursday, July 4, and are open to children aged 12 to 16 who live in a rural or regional area and are experiencing financial hardship.
