Smiles for Schools

Healthy, happy, smiles are on the program with a new partnership between North Adelaide Dental Care, Dental Outreach and the Adelaide Festival Centre Foundation
Schools will be given the opportunity to take part in the Smiles for Schools initiative over the next 5 years, with a total of 3,000 tickets offered to students of the selected schools for shows at Adelaide Festival Centre.
In addition to Smiles for Schools, Dental Outreach is also proud to support schools and kindergartens across South Australia through providing onsite dental checks and oral health education, with further support provided via Foodbank SA Schools Program and The Smith Family.
The new partnership, Smiles for Schools, is a joint initiative by Adelaide Festival Centre Foundation, North Adelaide Dental Care and Dental Outreach and builds on the Foundation’s work to give children living with disadvantage an opportunity to attend live theatre.
In the past four years, the Foundation has given thousands of free tickets to children for performances and festival activities.
Manager of Philanthropy at Adelaide Festival Centre, Robyn Brown, says: “North Adelaide Dental Care has brought us together with The Smith Family, Dental Outreach and Foodbank SA to identify the first schools in this program.  The Adelaide Festival Centre Foundation believes children least likely to access the arts have the most to gain from experiencing the wonder and magic of theatre and we’re delighted to encourage children in the hope they will grow up loving live performance.”
Initially, eleven (11) schools from across Adelaide and the outer metro area have been selected by the partners for the first year of the Smiles for Schools program.
Dental Outreach’s Grow Up Smiling program provides on-site dental care to more than 100 kindergartens and schools across South Australia at no out of pocket expense to students or schools, through support from local dental partners including North Adelaide Dental Care.
