Get ready for an enchanting four days of free fun for the whole family at OzAsia Festival's Moon Lantern Trail, from Thursday 23 – Sunday 26 October at Tarntanya Wama (Pinky Flat).
Take a stroll in the sunshine to admire the lanterns by day, and as night falls be awed as the riverbank transforms into a wonderland of light and sound.
See roving performances, puppetry and live music, and visit Moon Garden, a free family-friendly retreat, and Little Lanterns, a daytime experience filled with interactive workshops for kids of all ages.
With a range of delicious food and drinks available, follow the trail to an unforgettable OzAsia Festival experience for the whole family!

- Barossa Valley Ice Cream Company: Handcrafted ice creams and sorbets made using traditional recipes and local natural ingredients.

Saturday 25 October
- Pakistani Truck Art Workshop (12:30pm – 1:30pm) Experience the colorful world of Pakistani Truck Art and create your own unique wall art using traditional patterns. This lively and festive style turns everyday trucks into moving masterpieces - now it’s your turn to get creative!
- Bunting Making and Face Painting
(2pm – 4pm) Colour and design your own vibrant decorations to take home or display. Then let your imagination run wild with face painting. - Learn to Play Angklung Workshop
(4:15pm, 4:40pm) Explore the unique sounds of the traditional Indonesian angklung. No experience needed - just bring your enthusiasm and get ready to shake, play, and create beautiful music together.
Sunday 26 October
- Introduction to Chinese Brushwork (12:15pm, 1:00pm, 1:45pm, 2:30pm) Join artist Datsun Tran for a beginner-friendly workshop in Chinese brush painting. Learn the basics of using a calligraphy brush to create your own bamboo artwork and take home the skills to keep exploring this traditional artform. (Suitable for ages 7+).
- Lantern Making Workshop (3:30pm – 5:00pm) Get ready for 70 minutes of creativity, colour, and storytelling magic! Start with a hands-on paper lantern-making session led by Ruby Chew Studio. Then, step into a world of imagination as you dress up in hand-crafted costumes and embark on a joyful parade filled with lantern stories along the trail. The adventure wraps up with a magical final stop at the giant turtle - the perfect place to pause and soak in the story time wonder.
Saturday 25 October
- Calligraphy Workshop (12:30pm – 2:30pm) This workshop includes a demonstration, and patrons can bring home a copy of their name written in Chinese Calligraphy.
- A Mindful Lantern Decorating Workshop (3:00pm, 3:30pm, 4:00pm, 4:30pm) Join mindfulness artist Dai Trang for a playful lantern-decorating workshop that’s all about being present - joyfully, creatively and together. Participants will tune in to their five senses and the vibrant festival atmosphere before intuitively transforming their 30-minute experience into a hand-painted lantern. Each creation can be taken home as a keepsake or added to the community display at the Moon Lantern Trail.
Sunday 26 October
- Story Time (12:30pm – 2:30pm) A story-telling experience presented by Adelaide City Libraries.
- Ghost Rope Weaving Workshop (3:00pm – 5:00pm) Join local South Australian First Nations artist Sonya Rankine (Lakun Mara) for a unique cultural and creative experience. Learn how to weave using recycled and repurposed ghost ropes from the fishing industry while hearing the Widhadha (Shark) Narungga Dreaming story.
