Behind the Seams brings together the art of Australia’s best theatre costume designers. On display are costume designs for Shakespeare, Molière, Rogers and Hammerstein, Wagner, Britten, and The Australian Ballet productions by designer greats such as Sainthill, Goodchild, Rowell, Moisewitsch, Moore and Arrighi. One hundred unique works from thirty outstanding designers, spanning four decades, show the creative process of interpretating characters through costumes for the stage. 

The Performing Arts Collection is a rich, diverse and ever-evolving archive that records and displays the glorious history of the performing arts in South Australia. 
The collection comprises of over 100,000 items including the ephemeral (programs and tickets); artworks (paintings and photography); design (costume renderings and set models); architecture (theatre fittings, furniture and décor); textiles (costumes and millinery); and archives dating back to 1858.
