Dates: 13 July - 15 October 2021
Venue: Ian & Pamela Wall Gallery, Her Majesty's Theatre
Making of the Maj is open to the public during Her Majesty’s Theatre performance times.
In 1912, a large crowd gathered for the laying of the Princess Theatre’s first foundation stone. Since then, Her Majesty’s Theatre has gone through numerous name changes, several renovations, and an endless array of shows.
This exhibition traces the history of the theatre, the people who have graced its stage to entertain us, and those behind the scenes. With a focus on South Australian architects, artisans and builders who worked tirelessly to complete the recent spectacular transformation, this exhibition shows why Her Majesty’s Theatre has truly preserved its original distinction as being the best theatre in Australia.
