A space, as defined by Oxford’s online dictionary is described as; a continuous area or expanse which is free, available, or unoccupied. Whereas place refers to a particular position, point, or area in space; a location.

Reflections by local artist, curator, writer and educator Nici Cumpston was created as part of journey the artist went on in which she travelled the length of the Murray River. Not only does this work reminds us of the importance of tress within the environment but also asks us to stop and think about the places that are significant to us.

Nici Cumpston, Past Reflections I and II, hand-coloured oil and pencil on silver gelatin photographic print, 2002.
