Making Space is a fun and colour-filled exhibition that invites play and participation.
Made in collaboration with lead artist Arlon Hall and Tutti artists Lewis Constantine, Jasmine Jones, Megan Long, Scott Pyle, and Charlie Taplin this exhibition explores:
- Movement of people
- Movement of light and objects in space
- Bold use of colour
- Found, repurposed and unusual materials
Making Space is an impressive showcase of each artists’ ingenious use of space and creativity. Two and three-dimensional artworks invite curiosity, and different ways of seeing. The artworks encourage viewers to:
- Look up
- Look down
- Look around, under and through artworks
- Find ‘hidden gems’ amongst the bold colours and designs
This project consciously makes space and shines a light on South Australia’s amazing learning disabled and neurodivergent visual artists. Adelaide Festival Centre is proud to partner with Tutti Arts to produce these curated exhibitions in Artspace and the historic Phone Booths in the Adelaide Railway Station held over summer 2024-25. Tutti Arts is a renowned South Australian multi-arts organisation that works with learning disabled and neurodivergent artists across art forms.
The inaugural Tutti Artist in Residence was the legendary Arlon Hall who lives and works in Adelaide as a secondary school arts educator, abstract painter, and performance artist in The Bait Fridge. Since graduating with Honours from the South Australian School of Art in 2011, Arlon has exhibited award-winning exhibitions throughout South Australia. Across five-weeks Arlon worked with each Tutti artist to create new large-scale paintings for Making Space.
Together, the artists have created artworks that explore the movement of people, light, and objects in space, expressed freely through a refreshing use of colour and gesture.
Making Space is a true representation of each artist’s unique creative mark on this planet.

Meet the Artists
Arlon Hall
Lead artist, Arlon Hall lives and works in Adelaide as a secondary school arts educator, abstract painter, and performance artist in The Bait Fridge. He graduated with Honours from UniSA’s South Australian School of Art in 2011. Arlon was an artist in residence at Sanskriti Kendra in New Delhi, India supported by the Helpmann Academy and was Adelaide Festival Centre’s first Tutti Artist in Residence in 2024. He has exhibited award-winning exhibitions around South Australia.
Tutti Artists:
Charlie Taplin
Charlie Taplin is an artist inspired by nature and patterns. He uses acrylics and inks to create organic forms and repeated patterns. His first solo exhibition, 'Molecule,' was in 2019. His work has also featured in the Human Kind Festival in Sydney and the 2024 Adelaide Festival.

Jasmine Jones
Jasmine Jones creates layered abstract art with paint pens and markers. She finds making art a tranquil process, where she can express herself through shape and form. She has exhibited in the Fringe and SALA Festivals and has had a solo show at Post Office Projects in 2021.

Lewis Constantine
Lewis Constantine is an emerging artist who captures life experiences through abstract art. He won a Highly Commended award in 2021 and an IAF grant. He presented solo exhibitions in 2022 and 2024 and did an art residency in South Korea.

Megan Long
Megan Long is an emerging artist influenced by nature. She likes to use inks, adding threads and markers to create depth. Her art is often layered and translucent. Megan has showcased her work at galleries such as Nexus Arts, Gallery 1855, and 6 Manton.

Scott Pyle
Scott Pyle is famous for his vibrant portraits and paintings. They showcase his love for surfing, Power Rangers, and the show Home & Away. He has shown his work at FELTspace, GAGPROJECTS Greenaway Gallery, and Firstdraft. He has also participated in the SALA, Fringe, and OzAsia Festivals. Scott enjoys collaboration.
