- A children's arts playground
- New promenade and entrances to Dunstan Playhouse and Festival Theatre
- Adelaide's very own star-studded Walk of Fame
Festival Drive – Road Closure Advice
Festival Drive is now a drop off loop with access to and from the car park only. There is no access to Morphett Street or North Terrace via Festival Drive.
Updates regarding road closures around Adelaide Riverbank are available here.
Vehicle and Taxi Drop Off Locations
Please click here for more information about taxi drop offs and our Uber deal.
Festival Theatre: The recommended Festival Theatre drop off zone for taxis is the horseshoe driveway on King William Road, north of Festival Drive.
Dunstan Playhouse: The recommended Dunstan Playhouse and Space Theatre drop off zone is at the northern end of the Riverbank Footbridge on War Memorial Drive. Walk across the Footbridge to Dunstan Playhouse. There is also a drop off area and two accessible car spaces on lower Festival Drive, accessible from the west via Montefiore Road.
Adelaide Festival Centre car park will close from 1 Janury 2017 to allow for the construction of the new car park and redevelopment of Festival Plaza. We have teamed up with Wilson Parking to offer patrons a discounted rate at Wilson Adelaide Central car park (225 North Terrace). Click here for more information.
We recommend strongly that you consider alternative parking or allow plenty of extra time to find a car park at Festival Centre. Patrons to Dunstan Playhouse especially should consider alternative parking as travel from the Festival Centre car park to Dunstan Playhouse involves a significant pedestrian detour.
Temporary closure of Festival Theatre
As part of Adelaide Festival Centre’s redevelopment, Festival Theatre and its foyer will close for five months from 23 July 2017 to 26 December 2017. Other Adelaide Festival Centre venues, including Dunstan Playhouse, Space Theatre, Artspace Gallery and Her Majesty’s Theatre at Grote Street will all remain open during this period and throughout the redevelopment.
The difficult decision to close Festival Theatre temporarily was made with a great deal of consideration. While this closure is challenging for Adelaide Festival Centre, we are looking forward to providing a better patron experience upon its completion. The closure of the venue will enable the redevelopment work to be completed sooner and ensure patron safety throughout.
Check back here for the latest information throughout the redevelopment! If you have tickets booked to a performance, look out for our social media updates and the Your Visit email you will receive three days prior to your show. Patrons attending Adelaide Festival Centre on days where the venue is impacted by road closures will also receive a text message on the day of their show.
