Adelaide Festival Centre is located on the western side of King William Road, approximately 200 metres north of the North Terrace intersection. Its part of the Riverbank precinct, adjacent to Elder Park.
- The Festival Centre includes Festival Theatre, the adjoining Banquet Room, and The Star: Kitchen and Bar, located in the building located closest to King William Road.
- Dunstan Playhouse, Artspace and Space Theatre are in the second building, located further down the riverbank on Festival Drive.
You can enter these venues by foot from North Terrace, Adelaide Railway Station, Adelaide Oval, or King William Road.
From North Terrace, walk down the laneway alongside SkyCity Casino. From King William Road, you can walk over Festival Plaza (theres a lift and escalator down to the Playhouse level) or along the Walk of Fame from Elder Park.
There are two car parks adjacent to Adelaide Festival Centre, Convention Centre Rivebank Car Park and Festival Car Park. Please note, Adelaide Festival Centre does not own or operate the car parks.
Convention Centre Riverbank Car Park

- Location: Festival Drive (adjacent Montefiore Road), Adelaide
- Entry: Festival Dr via King William Rd (Height: 2.0m) | Festival Dr via Montefiore Rd (Height: 2.0m)
Once you've parked, the eastern lift will take you to the promenade level where it's a short walk to the theatre. There is no direct access from this car park to Festival Theatre.

Festival Car Park

There is no direct lift or pedestrian access from Festival Car Park to the Dunstan Playhouse complex.
The Playhouse & Space Foyer Bar is the perfect meeting place for a pre-show drink or snack.
Please note: a 12% surcharge applies on Public Holidays on all food & drinks. Adelaide Festival Centre is a cashless venue.
Public transport is a great way to visit Adelaide Festival Centre with no need to worry about parking.
The Adelaide Railway Station is right next door, and the tram stops in front of the train station on North Terrace and in front of the Festival Theatre on King William Road.
Most of these options only require a very short walk. Visit Adelaide Metro to plan your journey.
Free City Connector bus
Take advantage of the free City Connector bus, offering a hop-on and hop-off service to the city and North Adelaide linking popular city attractions, shopping, dining and key destinations. Bus route 98A and 98C connect North Adelaide with the city, and 99A and 99C connect the inner-city. Services operate every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on weekends.

The best place to be dropped off by taxi for these venues is on King William Road at the Festival Theatre or on North Terrace.

When major events are on at Adelaide Oval, road closures will impact your visit and it may take you a little longer to get to Adelaide Festival Centre. If you want to know if there are any restrictions when you plan to visit, you can check the traffic restriction schedule on the City of Adelaide website.
Even when King William Road is closed, you can access the Festival Centre by foot from North Terrace or by using the Riverbank footbridge, and you can still get to the Riverbank car park, Festival Plaza Car Park, and Dunstan Playhouse drop off areas, by entering Festival Drive from Montefiore Road.
- Parenting rooms and baby change facilities are available in the Dunstan Playhouse foyer.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- Children under 12 months do not require a ticket when seated on a parent or guardian’s lap.
Access Services
We want to make your visit as enjoyable as possible and offer many ways to assist if support is required.
There is an accessible drop off area located off Festival Drive under the Riverbank Footbridge.
A designated disability drop off is also available 45 minutes before performances. To access this drop off area, turn onto Festival Drive from King William Road, pass the Festival Plaza car park entrance and stay left, driving through the EOS Hotel visitor drop off loop to arrive at the Dunstan Playhouse access drop off.

Dunstan Playhouse
Boxes 1 and 4 plus selected seats in row L have removable seats to accommodate patrons who wish to remain seated in their wheelchair or transfer to a theatre seat.
Space Theatre
Patrons using a wheelchair and those unable to manage stairs can be seated in the balcony or on floor level depending on the venue configuration.
Dunstan Playhouse
Boxes are accessible from foyer level with no stairs. Lifts are available with access to Row L, Seats 811 and 3235.
Space Theatre
Stair-free seating is available at the upper balcony level only.
Malt Shovel Taphouse
Lift access is available outside via the plaza.
Please note: in the unlikely event of a power failure, lifts will not operate and venue evacuation may take place via stairs. Patrons using wheelchairs and with mobility impairment will be assisted during the evacuation process.
Festival Theatre and Dunstan Playhouse have hearing loop facilities, limited to particular seats in the venues. If this is required, please advise the operator at the time of booking.
Audience members who require hearing assistance are now able to enjoy the show via the Beyerdynamic Hearing System.
Accessible toilets are available at all Adelaide Festival Centre venues.
Adelaide Festival Centre's standard straws are a hard paper. Plastic straws are available for patrons who require them, please request one from your food and beverage attendant.
Every theatre and event/function area of Adelaide Festival Centre is assistance animal friendly.
Please contact 131 246 or advise the operator when you are booking tickets if you require a loan wheelchair during your visit.
Wheelchairs can be collected at your venue concierge desk pre-show and must be returned within 20 minutes of the show finishing. Patrons will be required to leave a driver's license, credit card, or government issued photo ID as a deposit until the wheelchair is returned. Wheelchairs must not be taken off site. Please coordinate patron pick-up and drop-off locations accordingly.
Unfortunately we cannot provide staff to assist with patron wheelchair use unless there is an emergency. Adelaide Festival Centre participates in the Companion Card program for patrons who require support during their visit.

The promenade overlooks the River Torrens and connects King William Road and the Riverbank Footbridge, linking Festival Theatre and Dunstan Playhouse, providing an interesting way to access to all venues.

Attending an event FAQs
To avoid queues and congestion, please arrive no more than 15 minutes before the performance. Once inside, please take your seats in the auditorium.
At Festival Theatre, Dunstan Playhouse and Space Theatre - foyer bars are open 90 minutes before the performance.
At Her Majesty's Theatre - foyer bars are open 45 minutes before performances.
Drinks and light refreshments are available.
To help reduce congestion, please consider sending one person to the bar for drinks.

Only bags smaller than A3 will be permitted into the venue. Backpacks are not permitted.

Hand sanitiser stations are throughout back and front of house areas. Patrons are encouraged to wash their hands and sanitise frequently.
There is an onus on personal responsibility for the health and wellbeing of everyone:
- Do not come to the theatre if you have cold or flu symptoms. Contact 131 246 to discuss your tickets.
- Wash your hands often and cover coughs and sneezes in your arm.
- Wear a mask and keep 1.5m from others wherever possible in foyers and queues.
- Keep up to date on your COVID-19 vaccinations.
- If you are vulnerable, talk to your doctor about what is appropriate for you.
Adelaide Festival Centre has a comprehensive Covid-19 Risk Assessment and Management Plan for prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery.

Adelaide Festival Centre abides by the following rules:
- For children’s shows: age 12 months and under - no ticket required.
- For all other shows: age 2 years and under - no ticket required (where attendance is permitted for children based on age restrictions).
All ticketholders impacted by venue closures will receive a refund in full once the event is cancelled.
