Celebrate the return of Students Got Talent and Lunar New Year at Adelaide Festival Centre this summer

Saturday, 11 December 2021

Adelaide Festival Centre is set to celebrate the return of Students Got Talent and Lunar New Year on 12 February 2022 coinciding with the reopening of the upgraded Festival Theatre foyer.

Students Got Talent, the talent show for both domestic and international university students, will return to the Dunstan Playhouse stage showcasing 11 finalists selected from more than 30 submissions.

Hosted by Adelaide comedian Jason Chong, Students Got Talent is offering over $2,000 in prize money to be won. Tickets to cheer on the finalists are on sale from today, please visit.

The finalists include an exciting range of talents including singing, dancing, rapping and even roller skating! Countries represented on the night include Nepal, Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Burundi and Australia.

Students Got Talent will take place on a special weekend for Adelaide Festival Centre. To celebrate the reopening of the Festival Theatre, a number of fun events and concerts are taking place in and around our venues including Adelaide Symphony Orchestra’s John Williams at 90 in Festival Theatre, the Lunar New Year Concert in Space Theatre and free workshops in the Space Theatre foyer concentrating on traditional pass times and artforms such as calligraphy, paper cutting and knotting.

: “The weekend is packed with exciting shows and activities such as Students Got Talent, Lunar New Year Concert and free Lunar New Year celebration workshops. We’re sure to have something for everyone to enjoy in February at Adelaide Festival Centre.”

— Adelaide Festival Centre CEO & Artistic Director Douglas Gautier AM

Local musicians will present mostly original work, with the repertoire including new arrangements of popular folk songs.

Earlier that day, Adelaide Festival Centre will host free workshops and audiences are invited to watch Adelaide artist Jake Yang create a live artwork in the Space Theatre foyer.

We’re delighted that Students Got Talent is returning in 2022. As we look forward to welcoming back more than 10,000 international students to Adelaide early in the new year, the competition is a wonderful opportunity to showcase how our State embraces students and celebrates their diverse talents as yet another way they contribute to our community.

— StudyAdelaide CEO Karyn Kent

This year, we truly celebrate the richness of cultures through this Lunar New Year Concert. Featuring an array of traditional instruments, we look forward to highlighting some common folk songs.

— South Australian School of Chinese Music & Arts founder Zhao Liang
