We're proud to announce that OzAsia Festival, Adelaide Festival Centre's leading contemporary arts festival focused on Asia, has been awarded a Creative Australia Asia Pacific Arts Award at the inaugural ceremony in Sydney last night.

Celebrating cultural exchanges and collaborative partnerships in the Asia Pacific region, the award recipients were chosen by a panel of Industry Advisors and presented by Minister for the Arts, the Hon Tony Burke MP, at Sydney’s Riverside Theatre on Tuesday 23 April.

With a prize pool of $125,000 across five categories, the Asia Pacific Arts Awards recognise the work of remarkable Australian artists, organisations and groups connecting with the Asia Pacific, and promote continued engagement with the region. OzAsia Festival was recognised in the Connect category, for delivering an intersectional program to diverse audiences in Australia.

This award recognises OzAsia Festival's dedication to fostering cultural exchange and showcasing the best of Asian contemporary arts.

OzAsia Festival brings a diverse program of theatre, dance, music, visual arts, literature, and more to Adelaide each spring. For 17 years OzAsia Festival has showcased Asian and Asian Australian artists and introduced audiences to artistic works rarely seen on Australian stages.

Since we launched it in 2007, OzAsia Festival has grown to become Australia’s leading arts festival dedicated to the cultural engagement between Asia and Australia as well as being a platform for Asian Australian artists and writers. We are honoured to be recognised by Creative Australia and look forward to continuing to showcase Asian and Asian Australian voices for years to come.

Looking forward, we welcome new Artistic Director Joon-Yee Kwok for the 2024 festival, 24 October-10 November. Joon-Yee brings a wealth of experience and passion for Asian Australian arts. Stay tuned for the program launch in July!

I am thrilled that OzAsia Festival has been awarded an inaugural Asia Pacific Arts Award and am looking forward to continuing our work in fostering cultural engagement with Asian and Asian Australian artists and communities. I'm excited about what we have planned for 2024 so look out for the program in the coming months.
