centrED Artist in Schools workshops with OzAsia Festival Designer Truc Truong

Respond to the tale of ‘The Cow-herd & the Weaver’ through papercraft

We are calling out to schools to register their interest in participating in a day of in-school workshops with OzAsia Festival Designer Truc Truong.

This year’s OzAsia Festival design draws influence from the famous romantic tale ‘The Cowherd and The Weaver’, a magical tale that includes birds building a bridge for separated loved ones to reunite. In the workshop students will engage with the story by creating paper birds under the guidance of Truc. These birds will be used in the venue design - decorating the foyers of our theatres for OzAsia Festival 2022.

About the Artist

Truc Truong is an artist living and working on Kaurna land (Adelaide), exploring differences between Eastern and Western philosophy. Working with sculpture and installation, her work interrogates colonialism, exploring aspects of racism, hybridity, and displacement, often through experiences and stories retold by her family. Truc explores the innovative use of materials and processes examining issues of double consciousness (internalised racism), and cultural adaptation, especially as they impact on the Vietnamese and migrant communities in Australia.
