Adelaide Festival Centre’s centrED Schools Program is excited to relaunch the school tour program in 2020.
Join us for general behind the scenes tours of theatres, galleries and corridors of Adelaide Festival Centre or the newly refurbished Her Majesty's Theatre, get a peek at areas that are usually off limits to the public! Learn about the history, spaces and people of Adelaide’s premiere Arts Centres.
Adelaide Festival Centre Tour
The Festival Theatre is the largest proscenium arch theatre in Adelaide, seating close to 2000 people across three levels. Join us as we take you behind the scenes of this iconic theatre that has hosted a range of exceptional performers over its years. This tour also includes a tour of other artistic spaces including Dunstan Playhouse, Space Theatre, and Adelaide Festival Centre’s exhibition spaces.
Her Majesty's Theatre Tour
The Her Majesty's Theatre redevelopment is now complete! The Maj is truly a world class theatre, with state-of-the-art lighting and sound technology, the widest proscenium arch and deepest fly tower of any commercial theatre in Australia, and a rehearsal room the same size as the stage itself. Theatre has been reinvigorated, returning her to world-class status – seating 1500 people across three levels! You can be one of the first to get a look as we pull back the curtain.
Please Note – Behind the Scenes Tours will start in September 2020 and will be available for schools each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Scenery Workshop School Tours
Tour Adelaide Festival Centre's internationally renowned theatre construction facility.
Internationally renowned as one of the leading construction facilities in the Southern Hemisphere, our workshop specialises in creative solutions for the theatrical and entertainment industries. The workshop, in operation for over 39 years, has brought to life countless highly successful productions both locally and overseas, beginning with Evita back in 1979.
Now the workshop doors are open for your students. In this tour, led by the workshop team, your students will learn about set building and design and may even get a chance to see some of the current projects that the workshop team are working on!
