A Short History of Nearly Everything 2.0 is the result of Bill’s quest to understand everything that has happened from the Big Bang to the rise of civilisation – how we got from being nothing at all to what we are today.
Bill will share the stories of the lives and times of the scientists behind the research and discoveries, highlighting their sometimes eccentric behaviours.
In this theatrical, light-hearted, and fun live performance, Bill makes complex subjects fascinating and accessible to everyone with an interest in the world around them.
And of course, an evening with Bill would not be complete without delving into his travel adventures and the human body itself.

About Bill Bryson
Bill Bryson
Bill Bryson is an American British journalist and author.
Bryson has written twenty-one nonfiction books on topics including travel, the English language, and science. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1951, he has been a resident of Britain for most of his adult life, returning to the U.S. between 1995 and 2003, and holds dual American and British citizenship. Heserved as the chancellor of Durham University 2005 to 2011. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society.
His bestselling books includes A Short History of Nearly Everything 2.0 (2025), The Body: A Guide for Occupants (2019), The Road to Little Dribbling (2015), One Summer (2013), At Home (2010), Shakespeare (2007), The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid (2006), A Short History of Nearly Everything (2003), Down Under (2000), A Walk in the Woods (1997), Notes from a Small Island (1995).

Her Majesty's Theatre is located at 58 Grote Street, Adelaide, which is on the north side of the street. There is no designated drop off area but cars can pause to drop off passengers nearby on Grote Street.
Car parking
There are many parking options around the Grote Street precinct, including:
- Care Park - 6 Pitt St, Adelaide
- UPark Adelaide Central Market - 60 Gouger St, Adelaide (entry also from Grote St)
- Wilson Parking - 23 Franklin Street, Adelaide
Taxi services
There is not a taxi rank directly adjacent to Her Majesty’s Theatre, but the nearest one is just 250m east, outside the Hilton Hotel on Victoria Square.
Public transport
Many busses, including the free bus that loops through the city and North Adelaide, stop nearby as does the tram which stops in Victoria Square just 250m away.

Removable seats are available in the Stalls row G as well as on the Dress Circle and Grand Circle for patrons who wish to remain seated in their wheelchair or transfer to a theatre seat.

Lifts are located in the foyer near the information desk with access to all levels.

Accessible toilets are available at Her Majesty’s Theatre.
Assistance animals
Every theatre and event/function area of Adelaide Festival Centre is assistance animal friendly.

At Her Majesty’s Theatre, hearing loop facilities are available in foyer areas.
