Visions of God Support Group is a new project from South Australian based theatre maker Hew Parham (known for Symphony of the Bicycle).

A group of disparate strangers meet every Tuesday night at the Lithuanian Hall to discuss their visions of God and how they have affected their lives. Guy saw the Virgin Mary when he was on school retreat, Amelia on a Kontiki tour in Germany, Brad never says anything. Through a series of confessional monologues and meetings around the tea station the characters wrestle with questions of faith, miracles, identity and sexuality. Were these visions real or a product of trauma?

Stylistically, the work draws inspiration from the Dutch theatre company Kassys' production Kommer, which used a support group to express grief. It also reflects the droll, blackly absurd perspective on life, faith, and existential questions seen in the work of Swedish filmmaker Roy Andersson.
